Shaun Wendel

Shaun Wendel serves as Senior Vice President, Finance, Treasury, where he leads the bank’s treasury function, overseeing capital and liquidity management, interest rate risk, stress testing, and investment portfolio strategy. With more than a decade of banking and financial management experience, Shaun brings deep expertise in asset liability management, portfolio optimization, risk modeling, and balance sheet strategy.

Prior to joining Merchants Bank, Shaun held a series of treasury and finance leadership roles at STAR Financial Bank, where he was responsible for managing a $1.3 billion bond portfolio, liquidity strategy, and enterprise risk management initiatives. He also has extensive experience in financial analysis, capital optimization, and market-based risk assessment.

A graduate of Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, Shaun leverages his engineering background and passion for financial markets to deliver thoughtful, data-driven solutions that support the bank’s continued growth and long-term financial strength.
